Puffy bags under the eyes can come from allergies, fatigue, lack of sleep, or just age. They're usually harmless, but that doesn't mean you have to live with them — try these simple home remedies before considering anything more drastic.

Try Frozen Tea Bags or a Potato Mask

Soak 2 tea bags, freeze them for a few minutes, then place them on closed eyes and relax. Or grate a raw potato into a mushy pack and apply it to the eyes and lids for 10 to 20 minutes — the potato starch helps smooth the eye-area skin and ease puffiness.

Cool Down With Cucumber Slices

Cold cucumber slices on the eyes at the end of the night relieve tired eyes — an old trick, but still a good one.

Remove Mascara With Baby Oil

Dip a Q-tip or cotton ball in baby oil and gently wipe over your lashes. It removes mascara cleanly and softens the skin around the eyes at the same time, so there's no need for a separate eye cream.
