Well-meaning guests who want to help can still crowd a kitchen fast, so moving as many activities as possible out of it, a drink station in the living room or a small prep table elsewhere, keeps things running smoothly.

Create a Prep List

Laying out every task in order, starting two days before the meal, makes the day itself far less chaotic: identify what can be made ahead (pies refrigerate well), figure out which dishes take longest and prioritize them, and check which dishes can share oven space, using phone timers to track everything cooking at once.

Organize Recipes Ahead of Time

Making copies of recipes in advance and sticking them to appliances with magnets or taping them at eye level on cabinets saves counter space and keeps hands free while cooking; slipping them into plastic sleeves afterward makes them easy to file away for next year.
