Holiday centerpieces and wreaths don't have to wilt or dry out before the season is even over, with a couple of tricks that take just seconds.

Freshen Up Holiday Centerpieces

Cut flowers wilt fastest from bacteria building up in water that's no longer filtered by their roots. A drink of filtered water, or cooled leftover water from boiling potatoes or vegetables (extra nutrients included), helps blooms last noticeably longer.

Make Wreaths Last Longer With Hairspray

A spritz of hairspray on a pine wreath seals in moisture and keeps the needles from drying out; an outdoor wreath may need a spritz every few days to stay looking fresh.
