Making a DIY body scrub at home is a fun, affordable way to exfoliate and pamper the skin using ingredients already on hand. Here are five simple recipes to try.

Basic Sugar or Salt Scrub

Mix 1 cup granulated sugar or coarse salt with 1/4 cup carrier oil, like olive, coconut, or sweet almond oil, and a few drops of essential oil if desired. Apply to damp skin in the shower with gentle circular motions, then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Coffee Grounds Scrub

Combine 1/2 cup cooled, dried used coffee grounds with 1/4 cup brown sugar, then add coconut oil gradually to reach the desired consistency. Massage onto skin in the shower and rinse off.

Oatmeal and Honey Scrub

Grind 1/2 cup rolled oats into a coarse powder, then mix with 1/4 cup honey and 2 to 3 tablespoons plain yogurt to form a paste. Apply and gently exfoliate, then rinse with warm water.

Lemon and Sugar Scrub

Mix 1/2 cup granulated sugar with the juice and zest of one lemon and 2 tablespoons olive oil. Scrub gently, focusing on rough areas, then rinse with warm water.

Vanilla and Brown Sugar Scrub

Combine 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup coconut oil, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Apply to damp skin, exfoliate gently, and rinse off. Store any leftover scrub in an airtight container and use within a few weeks, doing a patch test first if skin is sensitive.
