Bread clips are small, simple, and easy to overlook, but they can be repurposed in plenty of creative and practical ways around the house. Here are some ideas worth trying.

Cord and Cable Organizer

Write a device name, like “TV” or “Laptop,” on a clip and attach it to the matching cord to keep cables identified.

Bundling and Securing Items

Use clips to bundle pencils, pens, or the ends of rolled-up posters or wrapping paper, or to secure loose papers.

Bag Clips

Bread clips still work great for resealing bags of bread, chips, pasta, or cereal.

Closet Labeling

Attach a clip to a hanger and label it by clothing type or season to make specific items easier to find.

Plant Labeling

Write a plant's name or care instructions on a clip and attach it to the pot, especially handy with several plants to track.

Key Identifier

Paint or label clips with different colors or codes and attach them to keys to tell locks apart at a glance.

Emergency Sewing Kit

Thread a needle and store it with a few buttons and safety pins in a small container, labeled with a bread clip for quick identification.

Toothpaste Squeezer

Slide a clip up from the bottom of a toothpaste tube to help push out every last bit.

Bookmarks

Colorful bread clips work well as bookmarks for books, magazines, or documents.

Food Storage

Use clips to reseal bags of frozen vegetables, rice, or other resealable food packaging.

Magnetic Clips

Glue a small magnet to a clip for a handy way to hold notes, shopping lists, or recipes on the fridge.

Knitting or Crochet Stitch Markers

A bread clip works in a pinch as a stitch marker for a knitting or crochet project.

DIY Luggage Tags

Write contact information on a clip and attach it to luggage while traveling.

DIY Earring Holder

Attach several clips to a piece of cardboard or fabric-covered board for a simple earring holder.

Paint Holder

Clip paintbrushes to the rim of a paint can to keep them clean and within reach during a project. Give any reused clips a good clean first if they've had food residue on them.
