Banana Peels and Dryer Sheet Cleaning Tricks

From the Genius House Hacks archive.

Banana peels contain oil and potassium, the same key ingredients in store-bought shoe polish. Discard the stringy parts first, then wipe shoes with the inside of the peel and buff with a clean cloth. The peels also work to clean dust and debris from leafy houseplants.

Dryer Sheets to Clean Baseboards

A used dryer sheet leaves baseboards smelling fresh, and the fabric softener in it works as a dust repellent, meaning less frequent cleaning afterward.

Dryer Sheets to Clean Soap Scum

A used dryer sheet also helps cut through soap scum and water spots, two of the toughest parts of cleaning a bathroom, and leaves a nicer scent behind than a chemical soap scum remover.
